{Event Recap} Rockabilly Fun Wedding!

Now this was a Fun wedding, with a capital "F"! Spencer and Yvette are a very unique couple. They wanted a wedding that was both traditional and anything but. They wanted a wedding for all of their friends and family to witness. Yvette wanted a big white wedding dress that she could wear down the aisle. A day filled with all the traditional wedding events (first dance, bouquet toss, etc). BUT this couple was already married! They eloped the year before right after their engagement and now wanted to have the big celebration. Of course, they also wanted it to have some unique elements (like a motorcycle, home-brewed beer and a rockabilly theme).

Spencer works on hot rods for a living so a rockabilly theme fit them perfectly. They also wanted a color scheme to match so selected hot rod red and black with white accents. This is what I had to start with when I began planning their wedding.

The first item I designed was their save the dates. Spencer wanted them to resemble a car show flier and Yvette really wanted a fridge magnet that looked like a mug shot. So they compromised and ... did both!

Don't you love how much fun this couple is! Next, I designed their invitations, table numbers, favors and place cards which became my Retro Dot line. I didn't really get any pictures of these items at the wedding unfortunately, but here are my sample pictures for my Etsy store. I love how they all turned out! The polka dots and sparrows really brought in the 50's feel.

Now on to the pictures you really want to see ... the actual wedding! The event was photographed by Ellsworth Ramclam and Peter Micu.

The perfect place to go to get fun, funky vintage hair and make up!

Now check out the bridal party!

I love the bridesmaid dresses. The color and polka dot pattern tied in perfectly with the Retro Dot invitation. The adorable bird hair clip and necklace were found by the bride and given to her girls as a gift. The boys also looked dashing in their black suits, red ties and wing tips.

And the ceremony was original as well, complete with a flower man and a ring girl.

Since the couple was already legally married they chose to have a friend "officiate" the ceremony for them. This was the first ceremony I witnessed where the officiant got nervous and asked the groom for a drink and the groom was prepared with a flask haha!

It was a beautiful day at Malibou Lake Club. After the outdoor ceremony was finished the guests all moved inside for the cocktail hour and reception. Spencer's uncles gave the couple home-brewed beer as a wedding gift and Truly Yours Catering was kind enough to serve it at the wedding.

Next to the gift table we were allowed to park the groom's gift to his bride, a motorcycle he renovated for her. She loved it, and it was quite a conversation piece for the guests.

All the tables were named after cars, the sweetheart table was "Cadillac"
