{Event Recap} Pan & Tink Boy/Girl Birthday

Early last year (ya I know that's how far behind I am on these posts!!!) I got asked to style a combo boy/girl birthday party for a little 2 and 4 year old. The mom asked for a Tinkerbell and Peter Pan theme using pink for the girls and green for the boys. I decided to focus on a woodsy, tree house style with lots of brown and beige to accent the pink and green. The dessert table was set up on the back deck under a beautiful wood plank awning. I covered the entire awning with strands of green felt leaf garlands. This gave the impression of being under a forest canopy with the Lost Boys. The table itself was covered in a burlap fabric and all the platters were wood slices in different shapes and sizes. The treats included:

A Beautiful and Whimsical Cake

Powdered Donuts decorated with Tinkerbell and Peter Pan silhouette toothpicks

Peter Pan's Cap Cake Pops

Strawberry Wendy Wafers

Cookie Pops, Strawberry Whoppers,
Gummy Candies, and of course Pixi Stix

I continued the decor throughout the rest of the party. When the guests arrived they entered along a walkway lined with silk Gerber daisies and pink and green fairy houses staked into the ground. Each of these were adorned with a tiny paper Tinkerbell silhouette. Wooden ships sat on the tables with pink and green pirate sails and the canopies were all draped in festive pink and green crepe paper.

All of the guests were asked to come dressed in costumes matching the theme. Even some of the parents were garbed in pirate attire and pajamas.

During the event the kids had lots of activities and crafts to keep them busy.

There was a Tinkerbell bounce house

Cookie decorating

A pirate ship water table and pixie dust station where the kids could fill containers with different colored sand

And of course a visit from Peter Pan and Tinkerbell!

At the end of the event as the guests left each kid got to take a fairy catching kit or book home with them!

Here are a few more fun party details for you to enjoy

{Event Recap} Vintage Jewelry Surprise Birthday

I was asked to design an event for my client's mother. Her mother, unfortunately, was robbed 2 weeks before her birthday and 4 generations of jewelry was stolen. My client was inspired to throw a jewelry themed surprise luncheon for her mom. She asked all of the guests to bring one pair of earrings as a gift for the birthday girl. I was very touched by this story and pulled together a simple design with hints of vintage jewelry. The color palette for the party was pink, cream and white with lots of wood accents. The party had a combination of clean, modern colors with rustic accent pieces. It made for a really spectacular combination.

For the dessert table I ordered some fabulous custom cookies with beautiful cameos featured on each one. This was huge hit as it closely resembled one of the birthday girl's favorite broaches which was lost.

The picture on the right is taken with my phone but you can really see the detail of the cameo!

I also included strawberry cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, strawberry parfaits, strawberry whoppers, mini doughnut rings and a lovely strawberry cake.

I decided to use cherry blossom branches in tall white bottles as the backdrop of the table. I didn't want to take away from the beautiful wallpaper!

For the lunch the ladies were served a variety of salads and roasted vegetables, a mixed juice spritzer, white wine sangria and lemon water. All the tables had fresh flowers which were purchased the day before in the LA flower district and at a farmer's market by myself and the hostess. At the end of the event all the ladies took home strawberry bath salt favors.

{Event Recap} The Knot Magazine Wedding Photo Editor Event

I recently designed a dessert table for a fabulous wedding industry event hosted by Cat and Adi of Next Exit Photography.

The wedding photo director of the Knot Magazine, Rebecca Crumley, recently moved to Los Angeles from New York and Cat and Adi greeted her in style with a beautiful event at their home. This event also coincided with Next Exit's 10th birthday. Happy Birthday Next Exit!

The inspiration for the event was to play off of the modern architecture of the home which was newly renovated and GORGEOUS! Specifically, I was given this beautiful wallpaper which accented one of the walls as the inspiration for my design.

Soon I was swimming in gray, mocha and pale blue!

I called on Jessy of Fairytale Frosting to design some custom sugar cookies to match the design because I love her work and she's so amazingly affordable!

I also tried a new vendor, Jennie of Pop Culture Desserts, to see if she'd be interested in designing some items for the table. All I can say is ... OH MY! The food she provided was beautiful and scrumptious. The guests were literally fighting over the leftovers at the end of the night.

Finally, I want to share a few details from the rest of the party which was designed by Bob Gail Events.
